Santa Marta, Taganga, and yet another bus ride
I feel like every time I post an update on here, I've got more to say about buses. I`ve been spending a lot of time on them - Colombia's a big country, with vast rural areas between the cities. So vast, in fact, that yesterday all we did was sit on a bus and watch the farms roll by. For nine to eleven hours, depending on if you are reading time in the Colombian or American style. Stiff legs aside, I actually loved it...I think I´ve said it before, but Colombia is BEAUTIFUL. I saw incredible birds I could never begin to identify, red-dirt towns where everyone seemed to be sitting out front just watching the road pass by, and an amazing sunset complete with sillohuetted palm trees.
As beautiful as it was, however, we ate nothing but peanut butter crackers and apples all day, and arrived at the coast much later than planned only to find that the places we wanted to stay were booked.
Hmmmm...
We found a nice hotel, though it´s not on the beach, and waited until this morning to head over to Taganga, the beach town. The best thing I can say about Taganga is that they know how to make one hell of a fruit salad. Other than that, it was hot, and sticky, and there was still no room at any of the three hostels, and you´re not supposed to swim at the beach because of the fishing boats. So...we had some really good fruit salad!

Katymae, I ate an apple today. The comparisons of our days end there, with the mutual fruit eating. And in fact, today is tomorrow for this post, so perhaps there are no similarities... but wait! I miss you and you miss me, we are both breathing (perhaps in sync!) and we are both wearing your clothes (I am wearing your thin green shirt.) I love you. Sphere 2 on email? Nadia

God, I used to just love hopping buses and trains and just going... But I'm not sure I have the patience for what you're describing. Maybe back then...
All-in-all, though, it sounds as if you're having a great time. The blogs are really great, and the pix add a lot. How's your digestive system?? (You KNOW all the warnings - don't drink the water, don't eat raw fruit, etc.)
AS to folks worrying about you, I'll just say that the last time Mama and I didn't worry about you was probably when you were in a backpack....
